Ray Winder Field will boast one more upgrade before closing down this year. The ballpark in midtown Little Rock will add wireless Internet service beginning Thursday.
Ray Winder opened in 1932 and will host its last Travelers game in September before the minor league baseball team moves across the Arkansas River to a new stadium in North Little Rock. But team officials, in partnership with AT&T decided to provide wireless for the ballpark's final season.
Ted Wagnon, a spokesman for AT&T Arkansas, says current AT&T customers will be able to access wireless at Ray Winder at a discounted price. Ray Winder also will hand out a limited supply of free day passes good for 24 hours.
The Travelers' future home, Dickey-Stephens Park, is expected to be ready for the 2007 season.
Wagnon said wireless service at Ray Winder will cease once the Travelers' season ends in September. Whether Dickey-Stephens Park will offer wireless is a "matter still under discussion," he said.
