Japan Airlines will stick with American Airlines

Japan Airlines has decided to hold on to its partnership with American Airlines in the Oneworld alliance.
Japan Airlines has decided to hold on to its partnership with American Airlines in the Oneworld alliance.

JAL has announced in the Japanese media that talks with Delta Air Lines and the rival SkyTeam group are over.

After reports last week that JAL had joined with Delta to keep American Airlines off its routes, JAL's new chief executive officer, Kazuo Inamori, said he had decided that alliance switching could be too risky and stop the company from improving its bottom line.

He has indicated the airline does not want to upgrade computer systems or deal with regulatory approval for anti-trust immunity.

JAL will make an official announcement on the Delta decision later this week.
