New Orleans, La. - The Tulsa women's basketball team will play its first nationally televised game when it takes on Tulane on ESPN 2 this Sunday, January 8, at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, La. The game is the first nationally televised sporting event in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina hit on August 29, 2005.
Tulsa enters the contest with 10-3 overall and 1-1 in Conference USA play. The Hurricane has made appearances on Fox Sports regional broadcasts and numerous locally televised games, but Sunday will mark TU's first contest in front of a nationally televised audience.
Pam Ward will describe the action, while Nancy Lieberman will provide color analysis.
The Golden Hurricane and junior All-America candidate Jillian Robbins will take center stage Sunday afternoon in the second-ever meeting between the two schools, but the first as conference rivals. Tulsa is 5-3 away from the Reynolds Center this season, while the Green Wave is 4-4 at home.
Robbins is averaging a double-double and leads the team in scoring (18.5), rebounding (15.2), blocked shots (2.8), steals (1.8), field goals (91) and free throws (59). She is the nation's leading rebounder and 10th-best shot blocker.
