Some much-deserved recognition for one young man who saved a child from a burning car. Earlier this month, a drunk driver plowed into three cars stopped a light. One of the cars caught on fire.
A Savannah State student, Simeo Smith, was in one of the cars. When he noticed that a baby was trapped in one of the cars, he broke the window with his fist. Two other men pulled the baby to safety.
Last night, Smith remained humble about his involvement in the rescue, even as he was honored by his college.
"If everybody looked towards being rewarded, they'll probably do something every day," he said. "Do the right thing every day."
Smith reminded us that two of his friends also helped in the rescue.
In last night's Outstanding Leadership and Service Recognition Awards, SSU named 84 students to Who's Who Among College Students in America.
